Professor Budi has been working as a professor of mental health nursing at the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Indonesia, in Jakarta since 1990. As a lecturer, Prof Budi are involved in teaching, research, and community service. She teach bachelor, master, specialist, and doctorate students in mental health nursing. In addition, she conduct research, publishing at least 1 or 2 studies annually in journals, and are actively engaged in community service. As a professional mental health nurse, she have been providing mental health and psychosocial support in disaster-stricken areas of Indonesia since the tsunami in Aceh. This work led to the development of community mental health nursing in Aceh, which has since been replicated in provinces across Indonesia. For these efforts, Professor Budi was awarded the "Outstanding Achievement in the field of Mental Health Care" by the Swiss Foundation in collaboration with the WHO in 2015. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they conducted free online training for over 11,000 volunteers across all 34 provinces in Indonesia on mental health and psychosocial support related to COVID-19. Professor Budi continues to focus on developing community-based mental health services, research, and education, while supporting deinstitutionalization programs.
